Behind the Cover of Permanent Waves

In his own words, Hugh Syme’s reflections on his time making the cover for Permanent Waves are still filled with the creative energy that comes from possibility. We strove to not just keep in the tone and palette of Syme’s Permanent Waves work, but to incorporate our own love for the enduring iconography of RUSH to create a unique love letter to the power of music and collaboration. As a studio, we can’t stop talking about music, and telling stories is our bread and butter. So this was a treat. This man created some of the most legendary covers of all time. Our Creative Director interviewed Hugh and it was an incredible experience to create this mini-documentary for music fans to enjoy.
