Very few Christmas songs are purer than Bing Crosby’s timeless rendition of Little Drummer Boy. A heartwarming tale of a boy offering his sole and modest gift to Christ the King, delicately sung by Bing. It’s a humble tune and its message brings to mind the simple gifts we give to our loved ones during the Christmas season.

Art Direction
We used an aesthetic inspired by beloved stop-motion Christmas specials with a fresh digital spin. Utilizing modern animation techniques, an enigmatic cat prowls an innocuous aging theater, a boy discovers Christmas magic with enchanting color, and dummies dance with gusto to the beat!

Backgrounds
We travel back into the world of the 1960s, all within the perspective of a classic theater. Bing Crosby posters line the walls, snazzy musical instruments, colorful props, and imaginative stage décor litter the backstage halls.
Props
Among the many props, we’ve hidden some Easter eggs for Bing Crosby fans of any age.
Color Script
We selectively chose a color palette that would express the emotional journey of the boy. We open with gloomy blues–he is away from family and Christmas is fast approaching. When he first clutches the stick and the dummies awaken, we fill the halls with luminescent color! All returning to blue once again as the dummies return to slumber, but this time warmed by a golden aura–encouraging and reminding the viewer that although many of us may be miles apart from our loved ones, the spirit of music keeps our hearts close and warm.
