ADVERTISING
There are times where our creative process is directly inspired by art from others–and we love this! In this case, the art belonged to Keith Knight, creator of the critically-acclaimed Hulu Series “Woke.” The legendary cartoonist hired us for this work himself, his top choice to bring his drawings to life in traditional 2D animation.
We needed to animate a character that appeared in the book and make it as if Keith Knight did it himself.
Challenge Accepted.

We had freedom to propose an entire set of boards for the character, Jake. It was incredibly fun to bring this character to life and make him interact with Craig Robinson!
We received incredible feedback from the publisher and the audience.

Art Direction
We analyzed Keith’s ink and proportions, creating an elaborate model, while ensuring the utmost detail and fluidity in the movement. The same love was put into the props, making a seamless experience in comparison to the book.
