FRANK ZAPPA

Trouble Everyday

MUSIC

Frank Zappa never shied away from talking about society’s troubles, using the poetry of his lyrics to address the ills of the world. In this video we wanted to both honor his written word and bring a focus to the trouble and racial issues we still see every day in the headlines and in our streets. We were honored to obtain the approvals from Martin Luther King Jr.’s estate to use his speech in the visuals. The animation style turns newspapers into characters as a reflection of the media portrayal of these crucial events in Los Angeles. This whole sequence came together with creative direction by Ahmet Zappa, who had the “cojones” to take this topic on the road, even knowing how divided the USA is at this moment.
